Remember This?

Link

Ken Pomeroy might have been right. I certainly expected more that what the team has shown so far.

However. The nice thing about college basketball is that you always control your own destiny. I expect nothing right now, but certainly hope the team can get back on the right track. There is still plenty of basketball to be played and we must step up the quality from what has been seen the last three weeks.

Some pretty damning comments by yours truly on that post. Those were more optimistic times...

Let's just take care of Cincinnati and go from there. I am just tired of making predictions of what this team needs to do to make it to the NCAA's. It is just a futile exercise. Despite the last couple of weeks, I believe we are still in a position to control our own destiny.

So lets just start with one game, stop this losing streak, and go from there.

Looking at WVU's game history, I'm not sure if they're legit or if they really fattened up on weak teams. They have a great defensive rating, but haven't performed particularly well against the top teams on their schedule.

The game at Syracuse tomorrow night will go a ways toward validating or refuting the statistical evaluation of the team. Pomeroy has WVU at 62% to win that game.

Incidentally... just like Pitt, the one thing WVU does exceptionally well on offense is rebound. Unlike Pitt, it appears to be a team performance rather than an exceptional individual, as their best offensive rebounder is Cam Thoroughman at 15% in a quarter of the teams minutes (compare with Ty Nash at 15.6% in ~20% of ND's minutes).
