I'm not really trying to make a point here, so take from it what you will.
A couple other things of note: the Sweet 16 team also lost to unranked Seton Hall, Rutgers, and St. John's while going 10-6 in the Big East with a first round tournament exit.
Going 3-4 against the rest of the ranked teams on the schedule (finishing with a winning percentage against top 25 teams that is closest to the 2003 number) would mean, at best, 21-9 (12-6). Using 2003 as an example again, that could mean a final ranking in the 20s and a 5 seed.
