For a Taste of Gus Johnson...

the play by play guy on Thursday, check out this clip.

One of my favorite NCAA Tournament games, the senior Sorrentine hitting the three pointer "from the parking lot" after waving off coach Tom Brennan's repeated pleas to run a play. Brennan retired after the season, riding off into the sunset with Sorrentine and four other seniors, including three time conference player of the year Taylor Coppenrath.

As someone who had Syracuse going to the Final 4 that year, let's just say that was NOT my favorite Gus Johnson moment...And as always, a big FU to Gerry McNamara...

Was Gus the announcer for the Valpo/Bryce Drew game? If so, THAT'S my fav one b/c I actually called that one...

(Another note: I'm pretty sure he was the announcer for NW St over Iowa 2 years ago, a game that I predicted on my blog but then ignored my advice and bet money on Iowa.)

No idea if Johnson was the play-by-play guy for the Bryce Drew game-winner.

I did call Vermont, which is probably why I remember it so fondly... not that I'm a great predictor of upsets, you just get lucky sometimes.
