FanHouse BlogPoll

As previously mentioned, my post for the Top 25 poll on the Irish is here.

Other posts up right now include Marquette at #22.

A quick look at the day's action: UCONN, Marquette, 'Nove, and Pitt won easily, Georgetown struggled a little against Jacksonville, DePaul and St. John's also won.

Gene Cross is still looking for his first win as a head coach as Toledo fell to Xavier. Best of luck to Coach Cross.

No points guards are in the incoming class, and the 2 on the roster are jrs. Who will replace Jackson and Peoples after the '09-'10 season? Does Brey have his eye on a high school jr, or is a transfer a possibility?

Point guard is definitely a must for the 2010 recruiting class and we will land at least one or two high schoolers there. Taran Buie, a combo guard from Albany, is being mentioned a lot. It's still early, but expect to receive commitments from a point guard or two over the next several months.

Also, don't forget a guy like Ben Hansbrough, who can play the point if needed and has an extra year of eligibility after Peoples and Jackson. I doubt Coach Brey will look for more transfers after receiving two this year, especially if he has confidence in the ability of a freshman and/or Tom Kopko to come off the bench right away.

Also Joey Brooks can play the point. I expect in 2010 you'll see point guard by committee with Hansborough and Brooks starting, to be spelled by the Freshmen. Other prime 2010 recruits are Kyrie Irving, Tom Droney, and Ray McCallum. All can play both the 1 and the 2. Brey seems to be going for versatility in the backcourt rather than a straight up point.

Good point about the versatility of Notre Dame point guards. All of those guys are in the line of Thomas, Quinn, and McAlarney, who started at both positions in their careers.
